Starr King Elementary School - Mandarin Immersion Teacher

We are hiring two teachers for our Mandarin immersion program.  The program is in the second year and has two kindergarten classes and two first grade classes.  An additional grade will be added each year until there are six grades.  Instruction is 80 percent Mandarin in the earlier years, and decreases by 10% each year until reaching 50 percent Mandarin/50 percent English in the later years.  The Mandarin Immersion program is one of four programs at Starr King Elementary (General Education, Spanish Bilingual, Special Education, and Mandarin Immersion).

 

Requirements  

•Appropriate California Teaching Credential (Mandarin BCLAD)

•Experience teaching in ethnically diverse setting

•Experience working with a team

•Knowledge of literacy teaching strategies
